Do you know Cala del Golfet? A hidden gem of the Costa Brava, located south of Calella de Palafrugell and framed by reddish cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation. This quiet, little-visited cove is one of the most beautiful spots on the Empordà coastline, ideal for those who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the sea in its purest state. Unlike more accessible or urbanised beaches, Cala del Golfet remains almost untouched, preserving that wild character so appreciated by nature lovers.
Cala del Golfet stands out for its secluded atmosphere and spectacular surroundings. The waters are crystal-clear, with shades ranging from blue to emerald green, depending on the light and time of day. The reddish rock formations surrounding the cove not only give it its name but also provide it with a unique aesthetic. On the horizon lie the Formigues Islands, a small archipelago that adds even more character to the landscape.
This corner of the Empordà is perfect for relaxing, reading a good book, practising snorkelling or simply gazing at the sea and listening to the sound of the waves. The cove is small, with room for only a few bathers, making it especially recommended to visit early in the morning or late in the day. It is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or for solo travellers seeking intimacy and connection with nature.
There are two main ways to reach Cala del Golfet. The first, and most scenic, is via the Camí de Ronda, a coastal path starting from Calella de Palafrugell heading south. The path runs along the sea, crosses small cliffs and offers wonderful views. The walk takes around 20 minutes and combines stairways with dirt trails. Comfortable footwear is essential.
The second option is more direct: from the El Golfet residential area, at the end of Carrer del Panamà, there is a signposted pedestrian access leading down to the cove. Although shorter, parking in summer can be tricky. We recommend avoiding peak hours and, if possible, arriving early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
🕒 The drive from the Hotel Encís d’Empordà takes approximately 25 minutes.
