The Dalinian Triangle
The district has an extensive range of museums such as historic museums or contemporany art expositions. It is notably remarkable the extensive legacy of the world-famous Emporda artist, the Surrealism’s greatest exponent Salvador Dali.
The Gala Dalí Castle House-Museum at Púbol (at 10km from the Encis) belongs to the three museum’s group owned by the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, in which many of the artist’s works are on view. The Castle of Púbol displays original works – furniture, paintings and sculptures – of incalculable value, all designed by Dalí. Moreover, visitors can admire the garden, decorated with sculptures and the fountain dedicated to Wagner.
Figueres is about 35km from the Encis. The city is best known for its Dalí Theatre-Museum. The Museum, built over the remains of the old town theatre, was inaugurated in 1974 and displays the widest variety of works from the career of Salvador Dalí (1904-1989), from his first artistic experiments and his creations within Surrealism to the works of the last years of his life.
